SJU Earns Berth in A-10 Field Hockey Championship

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's, Richmond, Temple and Massachusetts have qualified for the 2005 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship which begins on Friday, Nov. 4 at Geasey Field on the campus of Temple University.

The Hawks (10-9, 3-4 A-10) earned the fourth seed due to a head-to-head tie-breaker versus Saint Louis. SJU will square off with top-seeded Richmond (13-5, 7-0 A-10) at 4:00 pm on Friday.

The Spiders enter the A-10 Championship having posted a perfect record in league play (7-0) for the fourth straight year. The Spiders also own a 31-game Conference win streak.

The other semifinal match-up features host Temple versus Massachusetts. Temple garnered the second seed in the Championship after compiling a 6-1 league ledger to go along with an 11-9 overall mark. Massachusetts, seeded third, is 4-3 in the A-10 and 7-12 overall. The Minutewomen earned the third seed by virtue of their season-ending win over Rhode Island (2-1) on Oct. 30. The Owls and Minutewomen will face-off at 2:00 pm on Nov. 4.

The title game of the Atlantic 10 Championship will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 5. Single day tickets are available for $5 while a two-day pass may be purchased for $8. Tickets will be available at the gate to Geasey Field.
