Wrublesky Named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week

Oct. 22, 2007

PHILADELPHIA - The Atlantic 10 announced on Monday that Saint Joseph's freshman Jen Wrublesky was named the conference's Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Wrublesky and La Salle's Beth Carey are the only multiple honorees this season. Carey has also won the award three times.

Wrublesky is the leading scorer for Saint Joseph's with 16 points (six goals, four assists) and has helped lead the Hawks into a tie for third place in the conference standings. Wrublesky started the weekend by scoring two goals in the first 5:25 of the game in a 6-0 drubbing of West Chester on Friday afternoon. She then assisted on both Hawk goals in SJU's 2-0 victory over city rival La Salle on Sunday.

The Hawks (9-7, 4-2 Atlantic 10) clinched a berth in the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championship over the weekend. The championship, to be held at Finnesey Field November 2 and 3, will also be contested by Massachusetts, Richmond, and Temple.

The Hawks have two regular season games left on the schedule. On Tuesday night, SJU travels up the road to take on the archrival Villanova Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday afternoon the Hawks will host Temple at noon. Saturday's game will feature a pre-game ceremony honoring the team's graduating seniors.
