Anne Schreuders Earns Atlantic 10 and ECAC Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Anne Schreuders was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of the Week on Monday and the ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. On Thursday, she was named to the womensfieldhockey.com Division I Honor Roll. These are the first weekly honors of the season for Schreuders. The Utrecht, Netherlands native scored all three goals on Friday as Saint Joseph's upset #10 Massachusetts, 3-0, at Buckley Field. Just 1:53 into the match, Schreuders scored a penalty corner goal to give SJU a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later it wss 2-0 as she took a feed from classmate Kellie Walter and sent a one-time shot past the goalkeeper. Schreuders then secured her first career hat trick with a long range blast just less than 10 minutes from the end of the match. With the win, SJU sits in second place in the Atlantic 10 at 2-0, a half-game behind Richmond. Schreuders leads the squad with 11 goals and 26 points. Her 11 goals are the most by any Hawk since 2006. SJU returns to action at La Salle on Friday and at West Chester on Sunday.
