NATIONALLY-RANKED RICHMOND BLANK HAWKS IN FIELD HOCKEY, 6-0

RICHMOND, VA (10/26/03) - Nationally-ranked Rickmond (15-2, 6-0 A-10) tallied a pair of first half goals and then broke the game open with a four goals late to defeat Saint Joseph's (6-10, 2-3 A-10), 6-0, in Atlantic 10 field hockey at Crenshaw Field. The 13th-ranked Spiders controlled the contest from the start, tallying in the game's second minute and then adding a second goal with 15 minutes to go in the opening stanza. UR broke the contest open, scoring three goals within an eight minute span late in the contest and then adding a fourth goal in the second half to close out the scoring. The Hawks mustered little offense, attempting just one shot. SJU netminder junior Courtney Huff, meanwhile was busy recording 17 saves. The win was the seventh straight for the Spiders. SJU puts its A-10 playoff hopes on the line next Sunday, as the team closes out the regular season at Temple.
