FIELD HOCKEY GETS CLOSURE AGAINST AMERICAN, FALLS 3-0
NEWARK, DE (10/01/03) - After almost a month of waiting, the Saint Joseph's University field hockey team (3-6) was finally able to get closure on its season opener against American (7-1), but the Eagles tallied the only goal on Wednesday to earn a 3-0 victory. AU had led the Hawks 2-0 when lightning ended the teams' season opener at Georgetown on August 30.
The Eagles picked up right where they left off, as they controlled the final 29 minutes which were played at the University of Delaware.
American dominated the game with 13 shots on goal, and five corners. St. Joe's managed only eight.
The loss was the fifth straight for SJU. The Hawks look to get back on the right track on Saturday at Villanova.
