#8 PENN STATE ROLLS OVER SJU IN FIELD HOCKEY
STATE COLLEGE, PA (9/21/03) -The No. 8 Penn State field hockey team (6-1) used an offensive explosion that saw it put up the most goals in the program's history en route to a decisive 12-1 win over Saint Joseph's (3-3) at Bigler Field.
Little went right for the Crimson and Gray, who managed just a single goal on the day. Senior Amie Schmoltze broke up the shutout 5:55 into the second half when she scored off a penalty corner feed from freshman Nicole Antonini and junior Shannon Scott.
Seven players scored at least one goal for the Nittany Lions, while five of those seven notched a pair of tallies.
Hawk netminder junior Courtney Huff made nine saves before giving way to redshirt freshman Jill Stracko, who registered one stop.
SJU next takes the field at Lafayette on Wednesday.
