THREE HAWKS NAMED TO A-10 FIELD HOCKEY ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
PHILADELPHIA (11/18/02) - Saint Joseph's senior Kathy Sokalski has been named Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year in field hockey in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information directors.
Sokalski helped lead Saint Joseph's to its second-straight trip to the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship and a 9-9 overall record. The senior forward started all 17 games, scoring six goals and tallying 15 points - both second among the Hawks. She is seventh all-time at Saint Joseph's in career goals, fifth in career assists, and sixth in career points. She has a 3.83 grade point average in interdisciplinary health services. She was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team in 2001, is a two-time member of the NFHCA National Academic team, and a member of the Dean's List. She has also been on the SJU Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester and the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for three years.
Sokalski is joined on the field hockey Academic All-Conference team by teammates Kelly Butler and Natasha Pronga, as well as Sarah Bohonowicz and Adrianne Monaco of Massachusetts; Rhode Island's Danielle Dangoia; Tracy Guenther and Katie O'Connell of La Salle; and West Chester's Liz Morrow, Kendra Wood, and Azure Yoder.
