SJU PLACES THREE ON A-10 FIELD HOCKEY ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
PHILADELPHIA (11/07/02) - Three Saint Joseph's University field hockey players, senior Kelly Butler and juniors Kristen Teklinsky and Amie Schmoltze, have been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team in voting conducted by the league's coaches.
Butler, a native of Clarks Green, Pa., received all-A-10 honors for the second straight season. SJU's leading scorer with nine goals and twenty points, she ranked second in the A-10 in both categories.
Schmoltze and Teklinsky were named to the all-league squad for the first time. A Philadelphia native, Teklinsky ranked second on the team with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists). Schmoltze, meanwhile ranked fifth on the team with eight points (3 goals, 2 assists).
Richmond swept all four major field hockey awards, turning the trick for just the third time in Conference history. UR's Jill Murphy was named Offensive Player of the Year, Lydia Decembrino was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year, Michelle Swartz was honored as Rookie of the Year and Ange Bradley was named Coach of the Year.
Joining Butler, Schmoltze and Teklinsky on the All-Conference team were Murphy and Decembrino, as well as UR's Brittney Parrish; Jaime Bawden, Sarah Bohonowicz and Adrianne Monaco of Massachusetts, Temple's Melissa DeCesaris and Emily Moyer; Kelly Johnson and Jess Weber of Rhode Island, West Chester's Jill Posen and Kate Randle and Colleen Bolger of La Salle.
