HAWKS DROP THIRD STRAIGHT, FALL TO PENN 4-0
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (09/27/02) - For the second straight game the Saint Joseph's University field hockey team (3-4) failed to put together an offensive threat and dropped a 4-0 decision to Penn (2-4) at Franklin Field. Hawk netminder Courtney Huff made 13 saves.
Senior Kylee Jakobowski netted a hat trick for the Quakers, who pounded out a season-high 26 shots.
Although outshot 11-2 in the opening stanza, strong play by Huff kept the game scoreless at the break. SJU, in fact had an opportunity to get on the board but a penalty stroke by senior Kelly Butler was turned aside by the Quaker keeper.
UP finally broke through in the second half, exploding for four goals and cruising to the victory. The Quakers finished the game out shooting the Hawks 26-5. Penn also edged the Hawks in penalty corners, 9-7.
The Hawks host Fairfield on Sunday at noon.
