Four SJU Field Hockey Standouts Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad
PHILADELPHIA (03/01/02) - Four Saint Joseph's University student-athletes have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad. Being selected to the team were senior Katie Helder and juniors, Kelly Butler, Natasha Pronga and Kathy Sokalski.
Helder and Pronga, two of the team's tri-captains, served as the backbones of SJU's stingy defense. Both players started every game for the second straight season with Pronga earning Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors. She has started all 56 games of her SJU career. Butler (7 goals, 5 assists, 19 points) and Sokalski (7 goals, 3 assists, 17 points were the Hawks top two scorers and also finished numbers two and three in the Atlantic 10 Conference scoring race. The tandem was also named to the All-A-10 squad. Both Helder and Sokalski were also named to the team in 2000.
