HAWKS FALL TO WEST CHESTER IN A-10 SEMIFINALS, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA (11/03/01) - The Saint Joseph's University field hockey team saw its season come to a disappointing end on Saturday, as the squad dropped a 3-0 decision to West Chester in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. With the defeat, SJU concludes its season with a 9-10 overall record, West Chester, 11-6, meanwhile advances to the A-10 title game against Massachusetts on Sunday. The Hawks fell behind early in the contest on a goal by WCU's Kristin Schulberger at the 26:59 mark of the first half and led at the break 1-0. In the second half, SJU pressured the Golden Ram cage. WCU, however, weathered the storm and then tallied a goal of their own to make it 2-0 with 23:56 to play. The Rams then added an insurrance goal with only 3:17 to play. The Hawks outshot WCU in the game 9-5. SJU graduates just two seniors and will return nine starters, including four all-conference selections, to the field in 2002
