FIELD HOCKEY FALTERS IN OT, FALLS TO LAFAYETTE, 1-0
EASTON, PA (09/25/01) - The Lafayette field hockey team scored 9:43 into the first overtime period to sneak out a 1-0 victory over visiting Saint Joseph's on Rappolt Field. The defeat was the third staight for SJU, all by one goal. Senior Lauren Bradley, who ranks among the top five nationally in saves, posted double-digit stops for the fifth straight game. SJU now stands at 4-4 on the season, while Lafayette improved to 6-1.
The contest was evenly played through the first 70 minutes with LC maintining a 13-6 edge on shots through regulation and a 15-8 advantage for the game. The Leopards then talleid the game winner at the 9:43 mark of overtime. Freshman Missy Farrand collected the goal. After a ten day layoff due to the national tragedy, SJU was playing its third game in five days. The hectic schedule was not kind to the Hawks as the team dropped all thre contests in that span. The Hawks return to the field on Sunday, when SJU hosts Radford at noon.
