Helder and Sokalski Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad
Philadelphia, PA (02/22/01) - A pair of St.
Joseph's University student-athletes have been
named to the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association Division I National Academic
Squad. Being selected to the team were junior
Katie Helder and sophomore Kathy Sokalski.
Helder, who served as one of the team's
captain's, started all 19 games for the Hawks on
the defensive line. She ranked fourth on the
team in both goals scored (2) and points (4).
She was also named to the Atlantic 10
Conference Academic All-Conference Team.
Sokalski, one of the region's most dangerous
offensive players, led the team in assists (7)
and points (17) and also tied for the lead in
goals with 5.
