LAFAYETTE SLIPS PAST ST. JOSEPH'S IN OVERTIME, 1-0

Newark, DE (09/29/00) - Lafayette's Megan Monahan banged home a loose ball in the circle 3:52 into overtime to lift the Leopards to a 1-0 victory over St. Joseph's in women's field hockey action on Finnesey Field. The victory lifted LC to 5-4 on the season, while the Hawks slipped to 4-7 overall. The game flowed back-and-forth throughout much of the contest with neither team able to take command. Lafayette outshot St. Joseph's 17-10 for the game, including a 3-0 advantage in extra time. The Leopards also maintained the territorial advantage with 14 penalty corners to just 5 for SJU. Both goaltenders turned in strong performances. The Hawk's Lauren Bradley (Sewell, N.J./Wahington Township) stopped 10 LC shots. Her counterpart, Lafayette's Amy Cohen finished with 7 saves. St. Joseph's returns to action on Sunday, when the Hawks play host to Fairfield University. The game will get started at 11 a.m.
