Assistant Field Hockey Coach Regina Inigo Guides Futures Program Team to Victory at USA Field Hockey Regional Rumble
July 7, 2008
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Saint Joseph's assistant field hockey coach Regina Inigo coached the Chaos club team to a 3-1 victory over the Bedlam squad in the 2008 USA Field Hockey U-19 Regional Rumble Tournament on June 26 at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. Inigo, who works with goalkeepers and defenders at SJU, led Chaos to a 2-1 record in pool play and a semifinal win over intrastate rival Clamor before guiding her squad to the championship. In each of its final three tournament matches, Chaos notched victories over previously undefeated teams. All told, Chaos allowed less than one goal per game in its run to the title. The Regional Rumble is a national tournament for players in USA Field Hockey's Futures Program. It was held alongside the National Futures Championships. Teams from Pennsylvania won four of the six titles (each tournament consists of U-14, U-16, and U-19 divisions) up for grabs in Virginia Beach, including the both Futures and Regional Rumble championships in the U-16 and U-19 divisions. The week's festivities also included a banquet where the roster for the 2008 United States Women's Olympic Team was announced. The U.S. women qualified for their first Olympic appearance since hosting the Games in 1996.
