March 3, 2009

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its 2008 National Academic Squad, and nine Saint Joseph's players found their names on the list. The Hawks were also honored as a team for posting an overall team grade point average over 3.0.

Seniors Mary Beaman (York Beach, Maine/York) and Krista Bordogna (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) were honored for the fourth consecutive season. Bordogna was also named to the Atlantic 10's All-Academic team in 2008 as well as the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area squad.

Joining Beaman and Bordogna on the National Academic Squad were juniors Anne Schreuders (Utrecht, Netherlands) and Kellie Walter (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). The pair, like Bordogna, were also conference All-Academic honorees.

In addition to that quartet, sophomores Jen Wrublesky (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Hannah Rogers (Lumberton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) and freshmen Katelyn Green (Mount Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross High School), Theresa Testa (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy), and Rachel Walsh (Phoenixville, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) were also named to the National Academic Squad.

Saint Joseph's was also honored as one of 65 teams nationwide with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
