Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle's Kara Harpel scored in the final minute of regulation and then again in the second overtime as the Explorers came from behind to defeat the Saint Joseph's field hockey team, 2-1, at Hank DeVincent Field on Friday afternoon.

Saint Joseph's (5-8, 2-1 Atlantic 10) got on the board midway through the opening half as sophomore Theresa Testa scored 16:09 into the contest to give SJU a 1-0 lead.

La Salle (7-10, 2-2 Atlantic 10) knotted the game up at a goal apiece with just 28 seconds remaining as Harpel beat goalkeeper Kelly Swanick. It was the first goal Swanick and the Hawk defense had given up in 280:44, a span stretching back across parts of five games and 26 days.

The Explorers would break through just over three minutes into the second overtime period as Harpel scored once again to give La Salle the victory.

Swanick made six saves in the contest, while Emma Ruth made 12 for the Explorers.

SJU returns to action at noon on Sunday with a crucial match at West Chester. The Rams defeated Temple on Friday, 2-1, to improve to 3-1 in conference play. The Hawks are a half-game behind WCU for second place in the Atlantic 10.
