Hawks Salvage Weekend Split With 2-1 Win in Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO - Saint Joseph's (9-6, 2-2 A-10) used two first-half goals to top Saint Louis (5-10, 1-3 A-10) in Atlantic 10 field hockey, 2-1, at the Anheuser-Busch Center. Junior Lauren Luft and senior Katelyn O'Brien each tallied for the Hawks.

Luft got things moving for SJU just three minutes into the contest when she scored an unassisted tally off of Saint Louis keeper Amy Wasserman. O'Brien then netted the game winner in the 19th minute on a deflection off a Katie Young pass.

The Billikens cut the lead in half in the 23rd minute when Catherine Donovan scored off a Michelle Sinclair pass. Sinclair collected a rebound in the circle and fed Donovan for her third goal of the year.

The SLU offense had several chances in the second half to tie the game but could not get past Hawk keeper Rebecca Cunfer.

Saint Louis outshot the Hawks 12-7 on the afternoon and held a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners.
