Antonini Nets Lone Goal, as Richmond Rolls Over Hawks
Oct. 14, 2005 RICHMOND - A seven goal second-half effort proved to be the undoing of the Saint Joseph's field hockey team (8-6, 1-2 A-10), as the Hawks were routed by Richmond (8-5, 3-0) on Crenshaw Field, 9-1. Junior Nicole Antonini tallied the lone goal for the Crimson and Gray. A closely played first half, the Spider scored once early and one late in teh period to take a 2-0 lead at intermission. Two goals, just 10 seconds apart, early in half number two opened the floodgates, as UR reeled off three more goals to build a 7-0 lead. Antonini chipped a ball over the goalkeeper for her 12th goal of the season to temporarily curb the Spiders. Richmond, however, added two more late goals for the final 9-1 margin. Richmond dominated the contest outshooting SJU 36-3 and boasting a 13-2 edge in penalty corners. Junior goaltender Rebecca Cunfer made a career-high 15 saves before giving way to back-up Gabriella Schrier late in the contest. The Hawks travel to Saint Louis for an Atlantic 10 contest on Sundat at 1:00 PM.
