PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Junior goalkeeper Kelly Swanick posted her second consecutive shutout and senior Anne Schreuders added a pair of goals as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team earned its second straight 4-0 victory, this time defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Sunday afternoon at Bauer Field.

Saint Joseph's (4-7) opened the scoring with 8:25 remaining in the first half as sophomore Ellen Rowe notched her sixth goal of the season. Rowe slotted home the rebound after Schreuders had her initial shot blocked.

Schreuders would get herself a goal in the waning minutes of the half, however, as she scored on a penalty corner opportunity. Rowe inserted the ball to senior Jenn Schultz, who stopped the ball for Schreuders to let loose with a blast. Fortunately for the Hawks, the ball deflected into the goal to double the lead with just 1:37 remaining until the break.

SJU came out firing in the second half as well, with Schreuders tallying a second score just under six minutes into the stanza. Fellow senior Kellie Walter followed with her fourth goal of the season with 12:11 to go to close out the scoring. Freshman Ashlee Willis earned her first career assist on Walter's goal.

Swanick made a pair of saves in each half for her third clean sheet of the year. Vickie Lavell made four saves for Rutgers (1-13), while substitute keeper Shanice Beasley did not face a shot over the final 9:37 of the contest.

The Hawks have won two in a row for the first time this season and will carry that momentum into an important matchup with nationally-ranked Massachusetts on Friday afternoon. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. Friday's game will mark Senior Day as Saint Joseph's honors graduating seniors Schreuders, Walter, Mary Beaman and Jenn Schultz.
