MERION STATION, Pa. - Saint Joseph's junior goalkeeper Kate Mitchell made nine saves, but the SJU field hockey team lost by a 3-0 score to Quinnipiac Friday afternoon at Ellen Ryan Field.

Quinnipiac (4-2) opened the scoring midway through the first half as Jennalise Taylor notched her fourth goal of the year on a feed from Danielle Allan after a penalty corner.

Saint Joseph's (1-5) had an extended period of pressure to start the second half, but Quinnipiac's Nicole Lewis made saves on consecutive corner opportunities to preserve the lead.

The Bobcats doubled the margin at the 22:16 mark as Kristin Engelke picked up her own rebound and tucked it into the cage for a 2-0 lead. Ashleigh Allen finished the scoring with her first goal of the year on a pass from Lauren Zimniski.

Mitchell finished with nine saves while Lewis made two. The Bobcats outshot the Hawks 16-10, while the teams each had nine penalty corners, including eight in the second half for SJU.
