Antonini Lifts SJU Over Upstart Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - Despite dominating play, Saint Joseph's need a late goal from junior Nicole Antonini to edge upstart Robert Morris (1-4) at Joe Walton Stadium, 3-2. Antonini tallied twice and senior Hilary Moody also scored for the Hawks who improved to 3-1.

The Colonials, in just their second season of Division I competition, struck first when Jillian Howley tallied to give RMU the early 1-0 lead just 6:07 into the game. Robert Morris retained the lead for just under nine minutes until the Hawks' Katelyn O'Brien assisted Antonini on her first goal of the game to knot the score at 1-1.

Tied at intermission, the Hawks took their first lead of the game 4:12 into the second half of play on a Hilary Moody goal. The Colonials however would not quit as freshman Sarah Schrott scored off of a penalty corner to tie the score for the second time of the game at 2-2 with just over 20 minuets remaining in regulation.

Antonini snapped the tie and allowed the Hawks to escape with a victory scoring with just 3:12 left in the game to give the Hawks the 3-2 victory.

The Hawks dominated play and held a 38-3 advantage in shots and a 22-2 advantage in penalty corners. Colonial goalkeeper Kate Dunlap kept RMU in the game net after turning away a season-high 29 shots.

SJU has a quick turnaround and will return to action tomorrow at Penn State.
