Joining the Hawks as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2011 season is United States National Team member Shannon Taylor.

One of the top players in the nation during her collegiate career, Taylor played from 2004 to 2006 at the University of Richmond. She notched First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in 2005 and 2006, leading the league in goals and points in each of those seaons. Taylor set the conference record for points in a single season, pouring in 30 goals and nine assists for 69 points in 2006.

That same season, Taylor was named the Atlantic 10's Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the A-10 All-Tournament team as the Spiders won their fifth consecutive Atlantic 10 championship.

After a redshirt season, Taylor finished her college career at Syracuse, where she tallied 31 goals, 17 assists and 79 points on her way to First Team All-American honors from the NFHCA and womensfieldhockey.com. She was named to the All-Big East First Team as well and brought home the Most Outstanding Player award at the Big East Tournament. After the season, Taylor was tabbed to play in the 2008 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game and was named as a finalist for the Honda Sports Award.

Since graduating, Taylor has made over 20 appearances for the National Team.
