Former University of Louisville standout Jessica Javelet will join head coach Michelle Finegan's coaching staff for the 2011 season, her first as a coach at the collegiate level.

Javelet comes to Saint Joseph's from her alma mater, Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, where she served as an assistant coach for the past three seasons. The Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. native has also spent time with the United States Field Hockey Futures Program, where she has worked with the national U-14, U-16, and U-19 programs since 2004.

A decorated player at Louisville, Javelet was a First Team All-American as a senior and earned Big East Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team honors as well. As a junior, she led Division I in goals, finding the cage 30 times, and was a finalist for the Honda Award, given to the top female college athlete in 12 different sports. Javelet was also a finalist for the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Off the field, Javelet was the University of Louisville's Most Outstanding Graduating Senior and was the valedictorian for the Class of 2007. Among her academic accolades, she was twice named an Academic First Team All-American; in 2007 she was awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship and was named the Big East's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
