PHILDADELPHIA -
Saint Joseph's wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule when it hosts #22/21 Kansas State Thursday evening at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. Thursday's matchup will mark the second straight game against a ranked team for the Hawks, as they faced #14/16 Boston College on December 22. With a victory over the Wildcats, Saint Joseph's would snap a six-game losing streak and earn its first victory over a ranked since the 2000-01 season.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Fresh off a 75-63 victory over Villanova, Kansas State will try to complete a two-game sweep of the Big 5 when it takes on Saint Joseph's Thursday evening. The Wildcats, who have won three straight, will make their second appearance at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse in as many games when they tip off against the Hawks. Offensively, the Wildcats rank 24th nationally in scoring at 75.0 points per game. Leading scorer and All-American candidate Kendra Wecker returned from a left ankle sprain Tuesday to pace Kansas State with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Wecker, one of four Wildcats to average double figures in scoring, leads Kansas State with 21.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. She is followed by Megan Mahoney (12.8 ppg), Laurie Koehn (12.2 ppg) and Claire Coggins (10.6 ppg).
THE SERIES
Saint Joseph's and Kansas State will meet for only the second time when the two teams tip off Thursday evening at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. The Hawks won the previous meeting between the two teams, 70-52 in the opening round of the Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament on March 14, 1997.
