Ford Named Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Dec. 2, 2008

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior forward Brittany Ford has been named Philadelphia Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 24-30. Helping the Hawks to a 2-1 mark on the week, Ford averaged 17.3 points and 4.7 rebounds a game while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor (22-of-42).

Last Tuesday at Penn, the 6-foot-1 forward poured in a career-high 24 points to go with five steals and four rebounds as Saint Joseph's opened Big 5 play with a 66-60 win over the Quakers at the Palestra. Ford followed up that performance with 19 points and six rebounds versus Virginia Tech in the opening game of the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. She would also add nine points, four rebounds and two blocks in the Hawks' consolation game victory over Davidson on Saturday.

For the year, Ford tops the Hawks in scoring (14.8 points per game), and steals (10) and is tied for the team lead in blocks with six. She leads Saint Joseph's (3-3) into action this Thursday when SJU hosts Villanova at 8 p.m. at the Gallagher Center at Philadelphia University.
