AUDREY CODNER TO ENTER BIG FIVE BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME

PHILADELPHIA One of the keys to the success of the St. Joseph's women's basketball team in the early 1990s, Audrey Codner (Philadelphia, PA./Cardinal Dougherty) will be inducted into the Philadelphia Big Five Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 27, during halftime ceremonies of St. Joseph's game against Pennsylvania at The Palestra. A four-year standout for SJU, Codner helped to lead the Crimson and Gray to four straight City Series titles, including three outright crowns. She twice garnered all-Big Five honors during her career. Codner's best seasons on Hawk Hill came during her sophomore and junior years. As a sophomore in 1991-92, she earned first team all-Big Five and second team all-Atlantic 10 honors after averaging 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. During her junior year she was a second team all-Big Five choice and third team all-A-10 pick. That year she averaged 12.1 points and 4.2 boards. As a senior, she was a preseason first team all-A-10 selection, but sacrificed personal success for the good of the team, averaging 6.0 points and 3.1 caroms. The Hawks, however, went on to earn a NCAA Tournament berth, SJU's first since 1990. Codner concluded her career as the Hawks seventh all-time leading scorer (1,092 points) and tenth all-time leading rebounder (491 rebounds). She presently ranks 14th in each category, respectively. After graduating from SJU, she went onto play professionally in both Sweden and England.
