Saint Joseph's Women's Basketball Inks Johnson to National Letter of Intent

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's women's basketball announced today that forward Alexis Johnson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Hawks beginning in the 2007-08 season.

A starter for Calvary Chapel High School, Johnson excelled as a senior. Helping the Warriors to a 20-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Big Sky League, Johnson averaged 20.2 points a game and led the league in rebounding at 14.0 per contest. A 61.3 percent shooter from the field, Johnson earned both Big Sky and Calvary Chapel MVP honors. A First Team All-California Interscholastic Federation and All-Valley selections, she was invited to play in the Collision IX, Inland Empire and Desert Valley All-Star games. A standout on the floor, Johnson also excelled in the classroom, earning the team's Interscholastic and Scholar Athlete awards.

"Alexis is a versatile post player who is solid at both ends of the court," said Saint Joseph's head coach Cindy Griffin. "She has proven to be a great scorer and rebounder in high school and we look forward to her continuing that at the next level."

Johnson joins early signees Kallie Hovatter, Dominique Bryant, Laren Robinson and Sarah Acker to compose a talented incoming rookie class for Saint Joseph's, ranked in the Top-30 by Blue Star Basketball Index.
