McDade Named MVP at Women's Basketball Banquet

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior guard Mary Kate McDade was named Most Valuable Player Wednesday evening at the Saint Joseph's University Women's Basketball Hall of Fame at the Hawks' 33rd Annual Awards Banquet at the Erivan K. Haub Executive Center.

A four-year letterwinner, McDade consistently improved for the Hawks, becoming one of the top point guards in the Atlantic 10. This season, the Hawks' captain turned in her best season, averaging a career-high in points per game (5.5) and rebounds (4.1), while finishing second in the A-10 in assists with 160. Starting all 30 games, McDade finished fifth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.35) and capped her career seventh all-time in program history with 385 assists. McDade was also honored with Loyalty and Leadership Award and the Chris DiJulia Inspirational Award.

Among others honored at the banquet were seniors Jenna Loschiavo (Best Defensive Player), Kevin Hensler (Reverend Emory Ross Award for Academic Excellence) and Ryan Gensler (Patricia Ryan Unsung Hero Award), juniors Brittany Ford (Best Offensive Player) and Ashley Logue (Most Improved Player Award), and freshman Katie Kuester (Roosevelt Hunter Community Service Award). The Hawks also recognized the Carty family as Saint Joseph's Fan of the Year.
