PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team returns to the postseason for the first time since 2007 as the Hawks host VCU in the First Round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. at Michael J. Hagan '85 Arena.

WNIT Bracket

Picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10, Saint Joseph's ended the regular season strongly, going 9-5 in conference play and tying for fourth in the standings. Despite losing in overtime to Charlotte in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Tournament, the Hawks won eight of their last 12 games, and enter Thursday's game with a 17-14 overall record.

The bid marks the seventh WNIT berth for Saint Joseph's and the sixth under head coach Cindy Griffin.

"We are very excited to continue playing and are looking forward to hosting VCU on Thursday," said Griffin. "We have been playing great basketball of late and are eager to see how far we can go."

Should Saint Joseph's win Thursday, the Hawks would face either Penn State or Hofstra. Date and time for that game has yet to be determined.

Tickets are available by contacting the SJU Ticket Office at 610-660-1712 or tickets@sju.edu. Adult tickets are $10 and youth tickets are $5.
