Saint Joseph's to Host Coppin State in WNIT Opener Thursday
March 13, 2007 PHILADELPHIA - After compiling a 19-13 record, including an appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship title game, the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team will continue to play in 2006-07 as the Hawks accepted a bid in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Saint Joseph's will open play at home this Thursday versus Coppin State. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. Finishing fifth in the Atlantic 10 with an 8-6 conference record, the Hawks posted three-straight wins in the A-10 Tournament, including wins over fourth-seeded Charlotte and top-seeded No. 8/9 George Washington en route to making the program's first appearance in the title game since 2004. Under sixth-year head coach Cindy Griffin, the Hawks have appeared in four of the last five Women's National Invitation Tournaments, and five times in program history.
