McBryan and Pollock Earn Atlantic 10 Postseason Honors

March 3, 2005

WASHINGTON, DC - Saint Joseph's junior forward Maura McBryan and red-shirt freshman center Erica Pollock were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team and All-Rookie Team, respectively, Thursday evening at the conference's annual awards banquet.

A history major with a 3.87 grade point average, McBryan enters the A-10 Tournament as the third leading scorer on the Hawks at 9.0 points per game, second in rebounding at 5.5 boards a contest and second in field-goal percentage (.370). One of Saint Joseph's top three-point threats, McBryan ranked 13th in the A-10 in three-pointers per game at 1.32. A five-time member of Saint Josephs University Athletic Director's Honor Roll, McBryan was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Basketball Second Team in February. McBryan's selection makes the sixth consecutive season a Saint Joseph's player has been named to the A-10 All-Academic Team.

After red-shirting the 2003-04 season, Pollock made an immediate impact this year for the Hawks. Seeing action in all 28 games this season, Pollock ranks second on the team and 27th in the A-10 in scoring at 9.2 points per game. A solid presence in the frontcourt, Pollock led Saint Joseph's in rebounding (6.0 per game), blocks (30) and field-goal percentage (.438). She finished sixth in the conference in blocks-per-game at 1.11 and tied for 17th in rebounding. Pollock is the first Hawk to be named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team since 2001, when Amra Mehmedic earned the conference honor.

Joining McBryan on the All-Academic Team is Xavier's Tara Boothe, Saona Chapman of Richmond, St. Bonaventure's Stefanie Collins and Nicole Sinclair of Duquesne. Sinclair was also named A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year.

Pollock is joined on the All-Rookie Team by Kate Mills and Pam Rosanio of Massachusetts, Safi Mojidi of Rhode Island and A-10 Rookie of the Kimberly Beck of George Washington.
