Klimowicz Earns Seventh Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week
Feb. 27, 2006 PHILADELPHIA - For the seventh and final time this season Saint Joseph's women's basketball freshman center Hillary Klimowicz has been recognized as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, this time for the remainder of the regular season, February 19-26. Her seven weekly honors is the third-highest mark behind only Xavier's Tara Boothe who received 11 honors during the 2002-03 season and former Hawks standout and current assistant coach Susan Moran, who garnered eight in 1998-99. On the week, Klimowicz averaged 6.7 points and 6.0 rebounds as Saint Joseph's went 2-1. Versus La Salle on February 19, Klimowicz scored nine points and added eight rebounds. She followed that performance with eight points and six rebounds at Xavier on Friday, before scoring six points and grabbing six boards in the season finale at Richmond on Sunday. For the season, Klimowicz leads all newcomers in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per games and also leads the team in rebounding (7.4 per game) and blocks (54). Klimowicz has previously won the A-10 weekly honor November 20, December 4, December 11, December 25, February 5 and February 18. The Hawks, who clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament after posting a 10-6 conference record, will face the 12th seeded Fordham Rams Friday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
