Women's Basketball's Pollock Named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week
Feb. 26, 2005 PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's freshman center Erica Pollock was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for the week of February 20-26. In the Hawks two games, Pollock proved to be a force in the paint for Saint Joseph's. The 6-foot-1 post player averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. On Friday, Pollock posted her first career double-double, leading the Hawks in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 10 rebounds. She set new career-highs in points and field goals (nine) in Saint Joseph's loss at La Salle. Last Sunday at Rhode Island, Pollock added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a heart-breaking 56-53 loss to the Rams. For the season, Pollock leads the Hawks in rebounding at 5.9 a game and is second in scoring at 9.2 points per contest. She has also proven to be a solid defender in the paint, averaging 1.11 blocks per game, good for sixth best in the A-10. The award is the first of season for Pollock and first conference award this season for Saint Joseph's. Pollock and Saint Joseph's (6-21, 4-11 A-10) will host #16/16 Temple in the season finale Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
