Saint Joseph's Falls at No. 9 George Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) - SA slow start doomed the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team as the Hawks fell at No. 9 George Washington, 87-60, Friday evening. Saint Joseph's (15-12, 7-6) never got closer than 10 points in the second half. The Colonials responded with a 13-2 run on which Kenan Cole made a layup and a 3-pointer for a 61-40 lead with 10 minutes left. Cole finished with 13 points. Erica Pollock and Ayahna Cornish led the Hawks with 10 points. Pollock also had 10 rebounds. George Washington started out hot, holding a 22-4 edge to begin the game. The Colonials went 9-0f-13 from the field over that stretch en route to going 33-off-66 for the game. Trailing 38-14, Saint Joseph's used a 12-0 run to cap the first half, cutting its deficit to 38-26 at the half. In the second stanza, SJU trailed by only 10, 48-38, but the Colonials pulled away with their 13-2 run. The Hawks cap the regular season Sunday when they travel to Duquesne for a 2 p.m. start.
