McDonnell Named Atlantic 10 Cross Country Rookie of the Week for Third Time

Oct. 20, 2008

PHILADELPHIA—Freshman cross country standout Kevin McDonnell received the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Award for his performance at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.

McDonnell, a Moorestown, N.J. native by way of Camden Catholic High School, covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:55.5. His 28th-place finish was fifth best on the Hawk squad as Saint Joseph’s finished second in the 13-team field.

The honor is the third bestowed upon McDonnell, all of which have come in successive races. He was previously honored after the Paddy Doyle/Iona Meet of Champions (Sept. 20) and the Paul Short Invitational (Oct. 3).

McDonnell will try to continue his impressive season in two weeks as the Hawks compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships, hosted by Charlotte, on November 1. The men’s race is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Charlotte’s Campus Course.
