FISHER NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN

PHILADELPHIA (06/17/03) – Senior Tim Fisher was named to the Verizon Academic All-America University Division Track/Cross Country third team, in voting conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the first time that Fisher has been honored on the academic all-American team. Fisher is a two-time winner of the 5,000m at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships and was recently was named the SJU Class of 1950 Award winner, given to the best male senior athlete. The Fayetteville, N.Y. native also finished second twice in the 5,000m at the A-10 Outdoor Track Championships. Named to the academic all-conference team for the indoor and outdoor seasons in both 2002 and 2003, Fisher was also the 2003 A-10 Indoor Track Student-Athlete of the Year. An accounting major with a 3.65 grade point average, he has been named to the Academic All-District II team twice in his career. CoSIDA selects Verizon Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track and field/cross country, women's track and field/cross country, men's at- large and women's at-large. A first team, second team, and third team are selected in both the University Division (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III, and NAIA) Divisions.
