HAWK HARRIERS WIN LEOPARD INVITATIONAL

EASTON, PA (10/19/02) - The Saint Joseph's University men's cross country team won their first invitational of the season on Saturday by winning the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette. The meet was the final tune-up for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships, to be held on November 2. Freshman Andre Laboy led the Hawks, who had three finishers in the top 10. Laboy completed the 8K course in 25:58 to earn a fifth place finish. Senior captain Tim Fisher had his best placing of the ran with a 7th place showing (26:06). Freshman Mike DiDio was right on his heels, as the Council Rock product ran a 26:10 to place eighth. Two more freshman, Joe Mohn (26:21, 14th) and Rich Anderson (26:22) completed the Hawks' top five runners. Sophomore Collin Martin (26:22, 16th) and senior Matt Lewis (26:31, 24th) round out the top seven. Saint Joseph's finished with 49 points, 14 ahead of second place Princeton. St. Francis' Ryan Sheehan won the race with a 25:33. SJU is off until November 2 when they will try to regain the Atlantic 10 Championship from favorite La Salle.
