KOCH PLACES 2ND OVERALL TO LIFT HAWKS TO SIXTH AT IC4As

BRONX, NY (11/17/01) - Senior Ben Koch finished his Saint Joseph's University cross country career on a high note, placing second at the IC4A Championships to help his Hawks garner sixth place in the 19-team field. Koch traversed the 5-mile Van Cortland Park course in a time of 25:06.50. He finished just two seconds behind overall champion Matt Spring of Manhattan. Senior Bill Hoffman placed second for SJU, and 20th overall in a time of 25:41.80. He was followed by junior Jim Smith, who turned in a fine run, finishing 32nd overall (25:55.90). Junior Dan Mays and senior Brian Rosetti rounded out the Hawk scorers, placing 75th and 77th, respectively. Bucknell won the team championship, posting a total of 91 points. The Bison were followed by Yale (105), William & Mary (111), Cornell (118), Penn State (147), SJU (181), James Madison (194), Manhattan (210), St. Francis, N.Y. (272), Albany (281), Marist (291), Delaware (362), La Salle (377), Georgetown (387), St, John's (393), Duquesne (393), Duke (396), Villanova (399) and Holy Cross (549).
