PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's graduate student Will Rowland was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team for cross country/track and field on Friday afternoon.  Rowland is one of six Atlantic 10 student-athletes to receive the honor.

Rowland, a native of Flemington, N.J., placed 28th in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA East Regional meet last week, running a time of 14:50.51.  He was also the 10,000-meter champion at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championships, besting the field with a meet-record time of 29:46.66.  Rowland was also named to the 2009 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for outdoor track and field.

Rowland will now be on the ballot for national All-American honors.
