Guterl Leads Cross Country With All-East Honors at IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y-- The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team ran to 10th place at the IC4A Championships in New York on Saturday. Sophomore Brian Guterl finished third on the eight-kilometer course. Guterl earned All-East honors with his high finish, completing the tough Van Courtlandt Park track in a time of 25:15. Guterl was also SJU's top finisher at A-10s on November 1. Junior Jonathan Sclafani was 29th in a time of 25:56 followed by Jimmy Jennings (26:30) in 68th. Senior Justin Heinze (26:40) was the Hawks' fourth runner in 74th position and Will Rowland (27:18) concluded the scoring in 106th place. Freshman Kevin McDonnell (27:56) was 118th. Saint Joseph's was 10th overall in the 15-team Championship field. The Hawks were without senior co-captain Kyle Murray who will compete in the NCAA Championships on Monday at Terre Haute, Ind. 3.
