Saint Joseph's Cross Country Competes at ECAC/IC4A Championships

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's graduate student Mike DiDio placed second overall, while senior co-captain Teddy Meyers took fourth place at the 2006 IC4A Championship race, held Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The team turned in a seventh-place finish in the field of 15. Selected women's cross country team members participated in the ECAC Championship event as well. In that race, the Hawks were led by sophomore Andrea Florida, who finished in 22nd place overall.

In the IC4A race, DDio finished with a time of 24:49.5, 11 seconds behind champion Charles Moran of James Madison. Meyers placed fourth, coming in with a 25:08.0. Freshman Jonathan Sclafani finished 61st (26:26.0); shortly behind him was junior Richard Ryan who took 66th place with a time of 26:28.0. Senior co-captain Shawn Duffy rounded out the Hawk scorers with a time of 26:38.2, earning him 79th place. The SJU entry also featured sophomores Stephen Young and Justin Heinze and freshmen Chris Savino and James Jennings. First-place team honors went to William & Mary in the five-mile run.
 

 

In the ECAC 6K event, Florida turned in a time of 18:38.3 to pace the Hawk harriers. Sophomore Amy Rhein took 70th place with a time of 19:45.1. Fellow sophomore Juli Stensland turned in a 20:24.9 to secure 90th place, while senior Maddie Bell recorded a 20:49.5, good for 98th place. Princeton's Reilly Kiernan took the individual title while team honors went to Cornell University.
