Men's Cross Country Places 12th at Mid-Atlantic Regionals

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team wrapped up competition for 2006 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday in Lock Haven, PA. Led once again by graduate student Mike DiDio, the Hawks ran to a 12th-place finish in the 25-team event, won by Georgetown. DiDio has paced SJU in all four of his races this year.

DiDio was the 13th-place individual finisher with a time of 30:46.5. Senior co-captains Teddy Meyers and Shawn Duffy were next across the line for SJU. Meyers placed 28th in the field of 178 with a time 31:23.2, and Duffy turned in a 32:52.2 for 88th place. Right behind Duffy, in 89th, was freshman Jonathan Sclafani, who ran a 32:54.7.

Also running in the 10K for the Hawks were junior Richard Ryan and sophomores Justin Heinze and Brendan Kearney. Ryan turned in a 33:27.9 to place 114th. 153rd-place honors went to Heinze, who finished in 34:47.9. Finally, Kearney's time of 35:22.1 earned him 161st place.
