MOHN EARNS ALL-CONFERENCE, INJURIES DERAIL HAWKS AT A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP
Oct. 30, 2004
PITTSBURGH - Junior Joe Mohn placed seventh overall to earn All-Conference honors for the second time in three years, but injuries derailed the Saint Joseph's cross country team's hopes for a league title. SJU finished eighth at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, held at Schenley Park. Mohn covered the course in a time of 25:52 and was the seventh runner across the line. He improved upon his ninth place finish in 2002 when he also captured All-League honors. Senior Collin Martin was impressive in his final conference race and finished 18th for SJU with a time of 26:50. Sophomore Chris Kessler (28:06) placed 50th, freshman Rich Ryan (28:17) was 53rd and senior Joe Correnti (29:05) all scored for SJU. Freshman Will Rowland (29:41) in 70th place and junior Jeremy Fallis (30:56) in 73rd rounded out SJU's top seven. Sophomore Brian O'Neil finished in a time of 32:42. Injuries left SJU, which posted its lowest-ever finish at the event, without the services of many of the team's top runners, including 2003 A-10 Performer of the Year Andre Laboy, as well as juniors Rich Anderson, Mike DiDio and Dave Masse and sophomore Teddy Meyers. La Salle won its fourth consecutive crown after having seven of its student-athletes finish in the top 10 overall. La Salle finished with 24 points in the 27th running of the men's A-10 Championship, 33 ahead of runner-up Duquesne, which notched its highest-ever finish. Xavier (106) recorded its best-ever finish with a third-place showing, followed by Richmond (143), Massachusetts (146), Fordham (159), Dayton (176), Saint Joseph's (193), Rhode Island (219), George Washington (259) and St. Bonaventure (354).
