Men's Harriers Notch Impressive Second Place Showing at Princeton
Oct. 18, 2008 Princeton, N.J - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team garnered second place honors at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks finished with 78 points, just 16 behind the champion hosts, Princeton. Kyle Murray and Brian Guterl paced SJU in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Saint Joseph's had its best finish of the season on Saturday, narrowly edging A-10 rival, Duquesne by a point as well as Columbia by two points. Murray completed the eight-kilometer course in 24:17.9, while Guterl finished just seconds later in 24:23.7. All of the scoring harriers broke the 25-minute barrier with Jonathan Sclafani (20th/24:46.1), Jimmy Jennings (24th/24:52.4), and Kevin McDonnell (28th/24:55.5) put together strong performances. Will Rowland crossed the line in a time of 25:17.2, good for 47th, while Jesse Brooks (86th/25:56.1) and Ryan Fenimore (89th/25:57.3) led the Hawks as the next runners who ran under 26 minutes. The West Windsor Fields course will also host the 2008 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional race in November. SJU will next toe the line on November 1 in Charlotte, N.C. for the opportunity to claim the Atlantic 10 Championship. Individual Results (195 runners)
