Bethlehem, Pa.--The Saint Joseph's men's cross country finished 18th of 45 teams at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh Friday afternoon. Sophomore Brian Guterl was the best Hawk on the day in 75th place.

Guterl ran a strong race, completing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 24:57. Guterl was followed by junior Jonathan Sclafani (96th), who clocked a time of 25:08 in the Men's College Brown race, which served as the varsity race.

Graduate student Will Rowland (100th) and freshman Kevin McDonnell (109th) were just four seconds apart in times of 25:10, and 25:14 respectively. Jimmy Jennings finished the scoring in 132nd place in a time of 25:27.

Seniors Kyle Murray (147th) and Justin Heinze (253rd) ran disappointing races in the sixth and seventh holes, respectively, in times of 25:36 and 27:03.

In the College JV race, sophomore Luke Fischer led the way in 76th place with a solid time of 26:16 on the same course as the varsity crew. In all 16 Hawk harriers took part in the meet.

SJU will take a week off prior to participating in the Princeton Invitational on October 18, the gun is set to go off at 10:00 a.m.
