Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Invitational

Bethlehem, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team finished 10th of 42 teams while the women placed 27th of 40 team's competing in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Friday morning.

Junior Brian Guterl finished first for the Hawks on the men's side, placing 32nd of 286 runners while running the 8K course in 24:22. Kyle Murray finished soon after Guterl in 40th (24:28) while sophomore Kevin McDonnell followed in 44th with a time of 24:32. Seniors Jon Sclafani (24:49) and Jimmy Jennings (25:06) rounded out the men's scoring in 83rd and 124th, respectively.

On the women's side, junior captain Jessica Di Cicco was the top Hawk finisher in 94th of 363 runners, completing the 6K course in 21:54. Fellow junior captain Christina Morelli came in next at 118 in 22:07, while Aimee Chegwidden finished two seconds behind Morelli in 22:09 at 120th place. Freshman Maureen O'Donnell clocked in at 22:40 and Beth Lambright came in at 22:49, while Laura Faller finished at 22:54 and Katie Barrett completed Hawks scoring at 23:05.

 

 

The men finished with 323 points while the first place team had 44 and the women totaled 709 with first place at 105.

The Hawks next race at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17th with a 10:00 a.m. start time.
