Hawk Harriers Finish 11th at Paddy Doyle/Iona Meet of Champions

BRONX, N.Y.--The Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad finished a solid 11th place out of 24 teams at the Paddy Doyle/Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday morning. Senior Kyle Murray (39th) and freshman Kevin McDonnell (42nd) led the Hawks. Murray completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:34.0, while McDonnell was just 12 seconds behind in 25:46.6. Cameron Levin of Southern Utah won the race in 24:24.1, but Michigan took home team honors with 39 points. Jonathan Sclafani was 13 places behind McDonnell in 55th, but just five seconds behind him in a time of 25:51.8. Jimmy Jennings (90th) and Will Rowland (100th) rounded out the scoring five in times of 26:32.2 and 26:38.5, respectively. Justin Heinze finished closely behind Rowland in 111th place with a time of 26:43.8. Heinze was backed up by the duo of Luke Fischer (148th/27:14.3) and George Wittmann (157th/27:17.2) SJU `s 287 points put them 50 behind UMass-Lowell and one point behind Stony Book. Additionally, seniors Brendan Kearney, Stephen Young and sophomore Brian Guterl were held out of Saturday's race.
The Hawks will next toe the line at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday, October 3 at Lehigh University. Individual Results (277 runners) Team Results (24 teams) |
