Men's Cross Country Places Sixth at Lock Haven

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad placed sixth at the Lock Haven Invitational this weekend. The 10K meet, held at Lock Haven University, featured eight Hawks in the 111-runner field, led by freshman Jonathan Sclafani. The University of Pennsylvania took first place in the eight-team contest. Sclafani finished the race with a time of 33:47.22, good for a 32nd-place finish. Right behind Sclafani, in 33rd, was senior co-captain Shawn Duffy. Duffy finished in 33:47.83. Sophomore Justin Heinze was the next Hawk across the line, coming in at 34:15.12 (41st place). Michael Howanski, another sophomore, finished 53rd with a time 34:49.84. Also running for SJU were senior Brian O'Neill, sophomores Brendan Kearney and Stephen Young, and freshman Chris Savino. O'Neill turned in a time of 35:36.63 (60th). Savino's time of 35:57.01 earned him 68th place. 79th place went to Kearney at 36:53.20, while Young ran a 36:58.20 for 81st place. The next meet for the Hawks is September 30th. The Hawks will travel to New York for the Iona Invitational, scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. Saint Joseph's Results
