Men's Cross Country Competes at Haverford

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's University men's cross country squad competed in the Haverford College Time-Trial Meet this afternoon on the campus of Haverford College. Nine Hawks took part in the first cross country meet of the 2006 season. Rookie Jonathan Sclafani was the top finisher for the Hawks, turning in a time of 15:50.12. His performance was good enough for second place out of 16 competitors. Sophomore Justin Heinze finished third with a time of 15:52.78. Also placing in the top ten were Chris Savino, James Jennings, Michael Howanski, Stephen Young, and George Wittman. The next meet for the cross country team is Saturday, September 16, when the Hawks will travel to Lock Haven for the Lock Haven Invitational. Competition is slated to begin at 10:00 AM.
